Four Year Immunizations

Lainey had her four year check up today, and she got a vision test and hearing test.  She did really well on the vision test, and we think  she did well on the hearing test, but she didn't quite grasp the concept of telling the nurse when she heard the beeps.  She would just smile whenever she heard it.  The nurse said that was normal, most of the kids don't really understand what they are supposed to do at this age.  When we asked her if she heard the beeps, she said yes- she heard four of them.  So we're fairly certain there are no problems with her hearing!
She's 3 feet 6 inches tall, and weighs 35 lbs.  She's in the 75th percentile for her height and 50th percentile for her weight.
She had one of her ponies with her, of course, and Dr. Abdullah asked her what the pony's name was. When Lainey replied "Apple Jack" he asked her if she was making that up. She drew pictures for him and a couple letters, and Dr. Abdullah was very happy with her progress, and said she's very advanced skill-wise and absolutely average size-wise.
Then she got her shots- three of them.  She did okay on the first two, and the third one hurt her.  You could tell immediately because she got "the look" on her face, and immediately teared up and whimpered.  She never fully cried or hollered, but she had tears rolling down her cheeks.  Luckily she knew she was getting a prize afterward, so that helped.  She's been asking for a certain My Little Pony toy for a while, so I had gotten that for her yesterday and it was waiting in the van for her when we were done.
Jeff was kind enough to go to her appointment with me because he knows I have a hard time taking Lainey to get shots.  It's always nice to have him there to hold Lainey during and after the shots!
The last time Lainey got her MMR shot she had a pretty nasty reaction to it.  The evening after her shot, she was pretty uncomfortable and her legs (where they gave the shots the first time) were hurting her.  Then a week later she broke out in a pretty severe rash.  When Jeff took her to her pediatrician, he said it was probably the most severe rash reaction to the MMR vaccine he'd ever seen, and her doctor brought in all the nurses in his office to show them what a severe rash reaction to the MMR vaccine looked like.  When we told this to Dr. Abdullah today, he said that there wasn't really any way to predict whether or not her body will react the same way, more severely, or not at all.  So we will just have to wait and see, and if she has the rash we are to give her Benedryl.  Last time she had the vaccine and got the rash, she was too young for Benedryl or another antihistamine, so she won't have to suffer through it this time around if she has a reaction.  She's home with me today and so far she's doing great!

An eating thing

She came inside with an acorn and asked me if I knew what was inside. I said no, and she said emphatically "an eating thing!!"

I'm not a wreck

We are shopping in Target and their clothes racks are really close together, so every time I turned the cart I banged into a rack. I told Lainey that I was a wreck and she said "ohhhh Momma! You aren't a wreck, you are my lovely and very beautiful!"
Awwwwww
